Gerald C. Yoshida
Director

Gerald C. Yoshida leads the Firm’s Insurance Regulatory Practice Group, and specializes in the formation and representation of captive insurance companies and risk retention groups and other insurance regulatory matters in the State of Hawaii. He maintains an “AV” rating by Martindale Hubbell.1
Mr. Yoshida represents a majority of the captive insurance companies licensed in the State of Hawaii. He has been involved with captives in Hawaii since the State's captive law first went into effect in 1987, and was instrumental in licensing the first captive in the State of Hawaii that year. He remains active in the formation and ongoing representation of captives and risk retention groups and has been a speaker on those subjects locally, nationally, and internationally. Mr. Yoshida’s captive insurance and insurance regulatory experience includes matters relating to formation and ongoing operational issues, redomestication, conversion, liquidation, coverage matters, policy drafting, reinsurance, reinsurance trusts, and corporate governance.
